Miss Bingley is annoyed at Elizabeth's sudden appearance
MISS BINGLEY
Miss Eliza? Here?
DARCY
Yes. Isn't that wonderful?
MISS BINGLEY
Surely you're joking, Mr. Darcy.
DARCY
Well, I mean, it is rather unexpected.
MISS BINGLEY
I should say so. How did she know you'd even be here?
DARCY
No, no. She was just touring the area.
MISS BINGLEY
What are we to do? Should we pretend we're not at home?
DARCY
Oh, for heaven's sake, no. I'm thinking of inviting her to tea tomorrow. And her aunt. And inviting her uncle to go fishing with your brother and me in the morning.
MISS BINGLEY
Tea? Where? Not here surely?
DARCY
I was hoping you'd help Georgiana host the tea while the gentlemen and I are fishing.
MISS BINGLEY
Well, I'm afraid I won't be available to meet her.
DARCY
No?
MISS BINGLEY
No.
DARCY
Are you certain of that?
MISS BINGLEY
Yes.
DARCY
Then you can help us with our worms tomorrow.
MISS BINGLEY
Mr. Darcy, how can you expect me to acknowledge Miss Eliza when she interjects herself back into our life in such a manner?
DARCY
Whose life? This is my life, Miss Bingley.
MISS BINGLEY
Well, yes, of course.
DARCY
She'll be a guest here. As are you, Miss Bingley. Snubbing Miss Elizabeth will do you no credit whatsoever.
MISS BINGLEY
Well, I hope she wears something more appropriate this time.
